Technology plays more and more of a role in our daily lives. So much has happened in the last few years that sometimes it’s hard to keep up with everything. But today, we’re going to share a few different definitions of some of the trending tech of the day. These ideas are going to play a massive role in our world tomorrow.
Here are five terms to know in tech.
Blockchain technology first gained notoriety—well, more mainstream notoriety—in 2008 in a white paper by an anonymous entity by the name of Satoshi Nakamoto. Great name.
It was introduced in conjunction with bitcoin, a popular cryptocurrency as you might be familiar. The blockchain helps to record transactions in a safer, more secure way. It is a public ledger that can’t be changed. It is also a decentralized system.
A cryptocurrency is a digital currency that works like money and is used in financial transactions. Bitcoin is a popular cryptocurrency you’ve likely already heard of.
Artificial intelligence, also referred to as “AI,” is another term that is currently circling around the mainstream. AI is the overarching concept that includes machine learning. It represents the simulation of human intelligence by way of a computer system. So through AI, a machine can “think” like a person.
Internet of Things
The Internet of Things refers to connecting an everyday item to the Internet. So a coffee pot that is connected to wi-fi would be an example.
An autonomous vehicle is a self-driving car. Think Tesla.
Social media influencer
A social media influencer is a person with Internet clout. Because of their reach, they have the potential to influence many people and persuade their opinion about a topic.
